FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – May 12, 2015 – NWA Center for Equality issued the following statement after Eureka Springs’ citizens voted to uphold a non-discrimination ordinance adopted by their city council in February:
“This vote is a landslide victory for the people of Eureka Springs and for everyone who believes in acceptance and full equality for LGBTQ Arkansans. How much further will other Northwest Arkansas communities fall behind by waiting to protect each citizen equally?
Governor Hutchinson and the legislature are on the wrong side of history, and they cannot stop the momentum building in communities across our state. Ensuring equal protection under the law for every citizen is not only good for our economy, it’s the right thing to do.”
